Prostanthera rotundifolia, “mint bush” Plant of the Month April 2021

This is an evergreen shrub that is an Australian native. It grows very well in Chico's climate. It has small rounded leaves and a profusion of beautiful small purple bell shaped flowers in the spring. The flowers have an herbal smell similar to mint, thyme, and oregano. This plant grows quickly to 6 feet in height and 5 feet in width at maturity. It requires good drainage, moderate water, and full sun. It tolerates light pruning, avoiding hard pruning cuts into the bare wood.

This plant can be purchased at Springfever Nursery in Yankee Hill, California by appointment.
